Chemical peels at Enhance Aesthetics and WellnessWhen people think of chemical peels, they often think back to that episode of Sex and the City and are wary of of what will happen afterwards.
At Enhance Aesthetics and Wellness, we have been using AlumierMD chemical peels for years, helping people achieve great looking skin. Here, our founder Charlotte Thompson shares her expert opinion on these chemical peels. What is an AlumierMD Chemical Peel? An AlumierMD chemical peel is a professional-grade skin treatment designed to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. It involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin, which prompts the body to naturally shed dead skin cells and stimulate the production of new, healthier skin cells. AlumierMD chemical peels are customised to address specific skin concerns, such as ageing, acne, hyperpigmentation, and even rosacea. They can vary in intensity, with some peels being more superficial and others penetrating deeper into the skin. What happens during the chemical peel treatment? During the treatment, a peeling solution is applied to the skin for a specific amount of time, depending on your desired results and your skin type. Afterwards, the solution is neutralised and removed. Your skin may appear slightly red or irritated straight after the procedure. Over the following days and weeks, smoother, brighter and more youthful-looking skin will be revealed. However, don’t be surprised if your skin doesn’t shed like a snake, our peels are designed to promote gentle exfoliation and some see no visible peeling at all. Do I need to hide away in a dark room for days afterwards? It is normal for skin to be slightly 'glowy' for some hours afterwards and we advise you to avoid make up straight afterwards, along with sun exposure, hot baths/showers and exercise, but other than following our aftercare advice, there is no 'downtime' to our AlumierMD peels. It is important to note that AlumierMD chemical peels should only be performed by trained professionals, as they require expertise to ensure the right type and strength of peel is used for each individual's skin. Additionally, proper post-treatment care and sun protection are essential to maximise results and minimise potential side effects. Chemical Peels sound harsh, can I have one if I have sensitive skin or active acne? Yes, it is possible to have an AlumierMD chemical peel if you have sensitive skin or acne breakouts. However, we recommend to come in for a free consultation so that we can assess your skin's suitability and advise the appropriate type and strength of peel for your specific needs, or recommend other treatments available at Enhance. AlumierMD offers a range of chemical peels with varying levels of intensity, including peels specifically formulated for sensitive skin. These peels are typically milder and gentler, designed to minimize irritation and minimize the risk of adverse reactions. During your consultation, be sure to disclose any known sensitivities or allergies to the practitioner performing the peel. They will take this information into account and tailor the treatment accordingly. How much do AlumierMD peels cost? At Enhance Aesthetics and Wellness we have 2 types of peel. Our Original AlumierMD peel costs £125 and is an ideal starting point for anyone looking to see improvements in their skin. Our Advanced AlumierMD peel is £150 and is suitable for those who have been used to having peels and are looking for more intense treatment. We also have a Membership Plan designed to help you plan your treatments monthly, please ask our staff at your next appointment. The last word.... To celebrate our partnership with the fabulous BLOCK Gym at Royal William Yard, we decided to give you some post workout skincare tips. Great skin health is just as important as good general health, so whilst we improve our overall fitness at BLOCK gym, here are some tips and product recommendations for the all-essential, post workout skincare routine.
2. Don’t be tempted to use a scrub like exfoliant after your gym sesh. Post workout skin is delicate and prone to micro abrasions, so skip the exfoliating step of your routine until the following evening/morning. 3. Apply a nurturing serum between your cleanser and moisturiser. We love AlumierMD Ultimate Boost, an absolute hero product. This lightweight serum will replace hydration lost through sweating and enhance the skin’s natural barrier. It also contains a cocktail of powerful anti-oxidants to protect the skin from future damage. 4. Use a skin specific moisturiser. This essential step will maintain hydration and prevent dryness even in oily skin. There is a big difference between skin oiliness and hydration, so even if your skin is oily post workout, don’t be inclined to skip this step. AlumierMD’s Hydralight is a light moisturiser specifically for normal to oily skin. It leaves the skin feeling balanced and ultra hydrated. If your skin is on the dry side, use AlumierMD’s HydraDew, an intensely moisturising cream, loaded with powerful peptides, antioxidants and soothing ingredients. 5. SPF even on rainy days is important to protect the skin from premature ageing. Use a mineral based SPF specific to your skin type. Use a tinted SPF to give an even skin tone and perfect makeup base. We have a range of AlumierMD SPF’s to suit all skin types. Frequently Asked QuestionsI prefer to shower at home rather than the gym, is this ok? As well as the build up of sweat on your face, dirt, dust and bacteria from things like your yoga mat, hair, hands, towels and equipment can also accumulate on your skin. Leaving this to dry and clog your pores is not going to do your skin any good, so we recommend you wash your face at least, as soon as you finish your workout. This is especially important if you are acne prone. I want to do my makeup before the gym so I’m looking my best.. Using a mineral based spf is recommended all the time, however, you still need to wash your face after the gym, so applying makeup pre-workout will not just potentially clog pores, but will all have to be washed off anyway! I drink loads of water but my skin is still dehydrated! Skin can be dry for a variety of reasons. Keep drinking water but talk to us about how we can help you address this problem. To find out how we can help you with your skin fitness and give you a personalised treatment plan, book your, no obligation skincare consultation today. We specialise in treatment for acne, hormonal breakouts, red and sensitive skin, pigment issues and pro-ageing skin options.
